Data Principal Rights Request

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), you (the Data Principal) have the right to access, correct, complete, update, erase, and obtain a portable copy of personal data that The Guardian Chronicle processes about you. You also have the right to nominate another individual to exercise these rights in the event of your death or incapacity.

How to Submit a Request

Email your request to privacy@theguardianchronicle.com with the subject line indicating the type of request:

  • Access — summary of your personal data and how it is processed (DPDP Act, s. 11).
  • Correction & Erasure — correction of inaccurate/incomplete data; erasure of data no longer necessary (DPDP Act, s. 12).
  • Portability — a machine-readable copy of your data.
  • Grievance — unresolved concerns regarding our processing of your data (DPDP Act, s. 13).
  • Nomination — designating another person to exercise your rights (DPDP Act, s. 14).
  • Consent Withdrawal — withdrawing consent previously given.

Information to Include

  • Full name and registered email address (so we can verify your identity).
  • Clear description of the request and data categories involved.
  • Any supporting context (for corrections or erasure requests).

Response Timeline

We will acknowledge your request within 7 days and respond substantively within 30 days of receipt. If we require additional information to verify your identity, the clock pauses until we receive that information.

Escalation

If your grievance remains unresolved, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India established under the DPDP Act. You may also contact our Grievance Officer.
